Landed Cost Calculator
Find purchase cost per usable unit after freight, handling, duty and other shipment costs. Compare suppliers using the same cost basis.
What does this calculator measure?
Landed cost is the total cost of bringing purchased goods to your location. This calculator divides the shipment cost by usable units received, allowing damaged or unusable units to affect the cost of the remaining stock.

Total landed cost = Purchase cost + Freight + Duty + Handling + Other costs. Landed cost per usable unit = Total landed cost ÷ Usable units received.
A shipment costs 10,000 plus 1,000 freight, 500 duty, 200 handling and 300 other costs. Total landed cost is 12,000. For 100 usable units, cost per unit is 120.
How to use the calculator
- Choose the product, category or business and the period you want to review.
- Enter the figures described beside each field using consistent units.
- Review the result alongside the assumptions below before changing purchasing or stock plans.
How to interpret your result
Use one currency for every cost. Exclude recoverable tax from this estimate and avoid counting charges already included in the supplier price twice. For mixed products, allocate shared costs by a defensible basis such as weight, volume or value before evaluating individual SKUs. This single-shipment calculator does not allocate costs across mixed SKUs.

Does landed cost include shipping?
Yes. Freight and handling are included when entered. Include only charges for the same shipment and avoid double counting.
What if some units arrive damaged?
Enter the usable quantity rather than the ordered quantity if you want to spread shipment cost across usable stock. Supplier refunds or credits should reduce the relevant cost input.
Can I use this for several different products?
Use it for a single product or a shipment-level average. Different products may need separate cost allocations before you set individual selling prices.
