Free SKU Generator
Custom, random & bulk SKU creator
Build structured SKUs from product attributes (category, color, size) or generate random SKUs in bulk. Set a prefix, choose a separator, and copy everything in one click.
What Is a SKU Generator?
A SKU Generator helps you create unique, structured Stock Keeping Unit codes for every product variant in your inventory. Instead of making up codes on the spot, a SKU generator lets you define a consistent format — like prefix, category, colour, size, and sequence number — so every SKU follows the same pattern. This makes it easier to search stock, print labels, and import products into inventory management systems or e-commerce platforms. Our tool supports both structured custom SKUs and random bulk generation for large catalogs.
How to Generate SKUs in 2 Steps
Step 1 — Choose Custom or Random Mode
Use Custom SKU Builder to build structured SKUs from product attributes (category, variant, color, size, sequence number). Use Random SKU Generator to create unique alphanumeric SKUs in bulk for new product catalogs.
Step 2 — Set Prefix & Separator, Then Copy
Add a prefix (e.g. MII for My Inventory Items, or SHIRT for a clothing line) and choose a dash or underscore separator. Copy individual SKUs or use 'Copy All' to paste the full list into your inventory system or spreadsheet.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a SKU?
A SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is a unique identifier assigned to each distinct product variant in your inventory. A blue large t-shirt and a red small t-shirt are different SKUs even if they are the same product line. SKUs help you track stock levels, sales, and reorders per variant.
What makes a good SKU format?
Good SKUs are short (8–16 characters), human-readable, and structured. A common format is: [Brand/Category]-[Variant]-[Color]-[Size]-[Sequence]. Example: SHIRT-COTTON-BLU-L-001. Avoid spaces, special characters, and ambiguous letters like O (looks like 0) or I (looks like 1).
What is the difference between SKU and barcode?
A SKU is your internal product code — created by you for your own inventory system. A barcode (UPC/EAN) is a globally standardised identifier for retail scanning. You can print your SKU as a Code128 barcode for internal labelling, or use our Barcode Generator for standard retail barcodes.
Can I bulk generate SKUs?
Yes. Switch to 'Random SKU Generator' mode, set the count (up to 200), add a prefix, and click Generate. All SKUs are unique and can be copied in one click.
Is this SKU generator free?
Yes, fully free. No account or sign-up required.
