Frequently Asked Questions
How does the date difference calculation work?
The calculator finds the total number of calendar days between the two dates, then derives weeks, months, and years from that. The exact years/months/days breakdown iterates month by month for calendar-accurate results.
What is the difference between approximate months and exact months?
Approximate months divides total days by 30.44 (average days per month). Exact months counts full calendar months between the dates, like a calendar would. For example, Jan 31 to Mar 31 is exactly 2 months but approximately 1.97 approximate months.
How are business days counted?
Business days count weekdays (Monday through Friday) between the two dates, inclusive of both start and end dates. Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are excluded. Public holidays are not excluded in this tool — use the Business Days Calculator for that.
Can I calculate age with this tool?
Yes. Enter your date of birth as the start date and today as the end date. The years/months/days breakdown gives your exact age.
Does it include both the start and end dates?
Total days is calculated as end date minus start date, so the start date is included but the end date is counted as day zero. Business days count includes both the start and end dates if they fall on weekdays.
Is this date difference calculator free?
Yes, completely free. No login or account required.
