How do I calculate total inventory value?
Total inventory value = sum of quantity on hand × unit cost for each item. Use the same currency, count cutoff and valuation basis throughout. This calculator totals the figures you enter; it does not choose a costing method or make write-downs.

Is inventory value the same as selling value?
No. Cost-based stock value measures the entered cost of goods held. Multiplying by retail price estimates selling value before discounts and selling costs. Keep these calculations separate; mixing cost and selling prices makes the total hard to interpret.
Does quantity × cost give the final accounting valuation?
It gives a subtotal for review. Under IAS 2, inventory is measured at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Costs can include more than the supplier price, and the applicable cost formula must be established before entering unit costs. This tool does not assess recoverability or calculate accounting adjustments.
